Chilliwack — On Tuesday December 17th, 2013 at 11:00am community partners are gathering at 7730 Old Orchard Rd, Chilliwack. The partners will formally state their concerns and stance on the recent rezoning decision made by Mayor Gaetz and Council on December 3rd, 2013. Council voted unanimously to rezone existing industrial land for special use, that being a hazardous waste recycling facility.
The partners include local First Nations, environmental organizations and the recreational fishing community.
We invite media to attend the press release in person near the disputed site to learn about the concerns with the current location as well as Council’s handling of the public feedback window and lack of consideration shown at the public hearing.
