Wild salmon are as culturally important to the people of British Columbia as the French language is to the people of Quebec

Watershed Watch Salmon Society and SkeenaWild Conservation Trust media release “Wild salmon are as culturally important to the people of British Columbia as the French language is to Quebec” to accompany a new public opinion poll on wild salmon in British Columbia.  The poll, conducted by Angus Reid Public Opinion, asked five questions related to the environmental concerns, salmon habitat and wild salmon runs and shows that an overwhelming majority of British Columbians say small salmon runs should not be traded of to favour the commercial fishing industry and economic development should not come at the expense of salmon habitat.
