Resource: Video: Safeguarding Salmon Part I – Justice Cohen’s Blueprint
The federal government announced the Cohen Inquiry to examine the declining sockeye salmon stocks in the Fraser River so that a plan could be developed to protect salmon into the future. The $26 million Cohen Commission of Inquiry into the Decline of Fraser River Sockeye completed its mission in October 2012 and tabled a final report and recommendations that were heralded as a blueprint to protecting salmon. Almost 16 months later, the federal government has not meaningfully implemented the recommendations. Canadians deserve to know how government intends to implement the recommendations from the Inquiry.
