The lower Coquitlam River watershed encompasses the cities of Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam and Kwikwetlem First Nation territory. Many people have worked hard to preserve and improve the health of the watershed. Do you know much about these projects or where to find information about them?

The Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable has created an interactive watershed atlas and project catalogue that will showcase some of the incredible work done by our community, including low-impact development projects, fish, wildlife and habitat projects. The atlas also provides geospatial information like watershed boundaries, development permit areas, wetlands, watercourses, invasive hot spots and more, which can be exported in the form of .kml files.

The roundtable will also be launching a virtual anti-litter campaign in the coming months and hosting its next community roundtable webinar this spring, focusing on stormwater management. Keep an eye out for announcements on the group’s website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages!

Watershed Watch is a founding member of the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable which promotes the long-term sustainability of the Coquitlam River watershed. Hailed by water management experts across B.C. as a model of collaboration and problem-solving, the CRWR has representatives from  a diverse cross-section of interests in the watershed including First Nations, all levels of government, business, education, recreation and community organizations.
