A river worth celebrating: the mighty Fraser!

B.C. Rivers Day is just days away! On September 24, people around the world will be celebrating their local rivers. This year, the Watershed Watch team will be out at several events in the lower mainland to take part in the festivities.

Started by world-renowned river advocate Mark Angelo back in 1980, B.C. Rivers Day has since grown into a worldwide celebration of our local waterways. There is a wide range of events you can attend in B.C., including film screenings, workshops, cleanups and more.

Celebrate with us!

Chilliwack River Salmon Run

On Saturday, September 23, we will be attending Water Wealth’s second annual Salmon Run in Chilliwack. With an option to participate in a 5 km, 10 km, or 200-metre kid dash, a raffle, and an eco-market with over 20 booths, there is something for everyone! Learn more here.

New Westminster Riverfest

On Saturday we will also be out at the New Westminster boardwalk for Fraser River Discovery Centre’s RiverFest. From 10 am  – 4 pm, Watershed Watch will join others for an Exhibitor Expo. There will also be a family zone, live music, and a craft fair.
